Captain Patti Minutello will not be returning to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriffs Station and will instead be reassigned to a yet-to-be-determined place in the L.A. County Sheriffs Department after serving at the Santa Clarita Valley station for nearly four years.
The City of Santa Clarita was notified officially today by Chief Neal Tyler that Captain Patti Minutello, who has been out on a work related injury for the past several months, will not be returning to the Santa Clarita Valley Station.
“It is not uncommon for a captain to be assigned to another post within the Sheriffs Department after serving for a few years at a station as Patti has done. Typically, station captains stay for two to five years,” commented Chief Neal Tyler.
The City will immediately begin work on a process to bring in a new captain. The Sheriffs Department will offer the City three captains from which to select. The City anticipates naming a new captain within the next month.
“We appreciate the Sheriffs Department’s willingness to provide us with the opportunity to select a new Sheriffs captain for the Santa Clarita Valley station. This is an important position in our community,” commented Ken Pulskamp, City Manager.
