Sup. Antonovich Honors Hugh OBrian

At the Board of Supervisors meeting on July 12, 2005, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich recognized Hugh O’Brian, — known affectionately by many as “Wyatt Earp” — who celebrated his 80th birthday on April 19.

Shortly after Hugh’s “Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp” debuted in 1955, it became the top-rated show on television, always placing in the top 10 shows in the nation during its 7-year run.

In addition to his legendary television career, Hugh is deeply involved in community service, establishing the “Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY)” in Los Angeles in 1958.  The mission of HOBY is “to motivate and empower individuals to make a positive difference within our global society through understanding and action based on effective and compassionate leadership.”

Today, HOBY holds leadership seminars at 70 locations across the country, with HOBY-style programs in Canada, Mexico, Israel, China, Taiwan and Korea.
