Music is a big debate in gyms, everyone has a different opinion on workout music preference. Studies are taking place around the country at universities regarding volume of the music – loud music doesn’t allow you to fully focus on your muscles when doing resistance workouts. On the other hand, loud music is good for cardio training. Ellen challenges the BalaCore listeners to try this in your next workout: lose yourself in the music while doing your Zumba class, kickboxing, or spinning class, and keep the volume low when focusing on resistance training.
What should your cardio workout consist of? Danny’s favorite cardio is having options. He likes to be available to do different physical activities and having choices. Ellen is the exact opposite, as she likes to stick to using the jump rope. The best option for you is to do what you like to do most!
There are several reasons why it is always important to stay hydrated throughout the day and especially when working out. Remember this: muscles are made up of 80% water.
People often ask Ellen “when do I implement protein shakes or protein bars and what should they be?” First thing is to know the ingredients and find what works best for you. Ellen likes Isagenix protein shakes and bars.
When building muscles, do resistance training first then cardio, but not on the same day. If you are trying to lose weight your workout should consist of cardio first (ten minutes), then move to resistance training, and end with cardio (twenty minutes).
