Life Leadership with Alex Urbina – October 13, 2014
On today’s show, Host Alex Urbina sits and talks with Linda Davies of the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita and discuss emotional attachment and how to overcome issues that may arise.
What does emotional attachment mean to you?
To me emotional attachment is being involved with someone in a relationship and not being able to function without them in my life, Davies said. Also it means having a title. I am attached to me job title.
I am now coming upon retirement and I will no longer have my job title. When I introduce myself I say “Hi, I am Laura, Director of Domestic Violence.” I am attached to that title and have been for years. Now I have to reprogram myself.
In regards with the domestic violence center a lot of bad or unhealthy relationship display emotional attachment with not seeing yourself as a whole and need others to just be.
They do not see themselves as whole, they see themselves as broken and less than. When I work with people I tell people that you need to work on yourself first, Alex said. You need to be whole and equal and not less than in order to grow.
