Prescription Overdoses – May 2, 2016

On this edition of Doctor Polucki’s Family Health Hour, Dr. P tackles an epidemic that he frequently refers to on the show: opioid addiction due to prescription pills and the slippery slope to overdose that opiates almost certainly lead to. Dr. Polucki gives alternatives to using opiates such as CBD oil and the benefits of this ingredient that is found in the marijuana or hemp plant.

“We live in a society that is just constantly bombarded by this quick-fix mentality.” – Doctor Polucki

“There is no druggy, no groggy, no high.” – Doctor Polucki on CBD

“Different than a vitamin, its something like melatonin.” – Doctor Polucki on use of CBD as a supplement, not a drug

“Cannabinoids are present in mother’s milk.” – Doctor Polucki

“If it’s not safe to give to a pregnant mother … that’s a huge red flag.” – Doctor Polucki on the nature of cannabinoids versus the many drugs someone is forbidden from taking for mothers or women who have the potential to be mothers

“People ask me where it hurts–no where it doesn’t hurt … now I have hope that I can take that when needed if I have a migraine.” – Michelle Dorosh on the benefit of CBD oil

In the second segment, Doctor Polucki speaks with Cary Quashen, an addiction specialist, to explain the psychology behind how opiates and prescription drug addiction arises.

  1. Do you know of any doctors in Ventura or Ventura county where I can get cbd for fibromyalgia and withdrawing from Zoloft.
