Santa Clarita Gazette Radio Hour – April 24, 2015
Wow! City Councilman Bob Kellar stopped by today on The Gazette Radio Hour with Doug and John! Bob Kellar talked about how to positively impact the community as a politician – “make a decision on what you think is the right thing to do for people who don’t even know your name.” Kellar stated that if he had to do his career all over again, he would join the police force.
John and Bob discussed the pressing issue of the high speed rail, which could potentially close schools and affect the economy of the Santa Clarita Valley. John expressed concerns that people’s expectations might not live up to the reality of the train when it’s actually built. With the school closures, noise pollution, and other negative issues this train could cause, John stated the installation of the high speed rail sounds completely out of character for Santa Clarita, since it doesn’t actually benefit the city (the train does not actually make a stop within Santa Clarita).
Bob Kellar said that the meeting to stop the rail will be at Canyon High School on April 27, where concerned citizens “can roll up their sleeves” and voice their opinion. Kellar emphasized that numbers matter when it comes to this issue, and that decision-makers will listen if people come out en masse.
John also brought in Aaron with the Citizens Accountability for the High Speed Rail
