The Velvet Pen has launched a “Book Title Campaign,” asking residents of Santa Clarita Valley to submit their suggestions for the title of a new book, containing personal and career profiles of highly creative, neighborhood-oriented individuals throughout the SC valley.

GOAL of this book: This book will reveal the stories behind the ‘movers-and-shakers’ and other special people who make this valley such a charming and wonderful place to live, work, and blossom. It is a collection of personal and career profiles of SCV residents, those who focus their attention on building happy and healthy lifestyles for themselves and their community, but oftentimes do not seek credit for themselves.

The Velvet Pen will ghostwrite and publish stories of individuals who have made significant contributions to the lives of people in their SCV neighborhoods, organizations, business communities, or industries. The book will bring hope, inspiration, and civic pride to everyone throughout SC Valley and beyond. Family, friends, colleagues, and anyone who aspires to make a difference in the lives of others, as well, can treasure published copies of this collection of profiles.

Themes in this Profiles Collection: The three (3) running themes in this collection of personal and career profiles are: 1) “Big Hearts Profiles,” which honor individuals with compassion, grace, and generosity and shares their inspirations and personal messages to others; 2) “Youth-in-Action Profiles,” which recognize children and teenagers with unique talents and the ability to put a smile on people’s faces. It highlights their special gifts, lifestyles, and leadership contributions; and 3) “Business Leaders Profiles,” which highlight creative entrepreneurs, as well as great role models in the workplace. It documents their outstanding skills, efforts, and mentoring spirit, in addition to their exemplary performance and sense of ethics appreciated by customers, clients, industry partners and the broader community.

Each of these profiles will reveal significant highlights, attributes, or turning points of these individuals’ lives. They present their innermost thoughts about themselves, their relationships, instrumental childhood experiences, social and cultural experiences, political perspectives, spiritual life, school or career decisions, and accomplishments, as well as distinctive memories of people, events, and places that make life special in the Santa Clarita Valley.  

How to Submit Book Title Suggestion(s): You may e-mail your book title suggestion(s) to writers@velvetpen.com, through October 1, 2005. Explain, in one (1) paragraph for each title, why your suggestion(s) might be best suited for this profiles collection. Please include your name and primary phone number. By mid-October, the top candidates’ suggested titles will be announced on Santa Clarita’s Hometown Station, KHTS AM1220 and in The Signal, so that the people of Santa Clarita Valley can vote for the #1 favorite title for this book! (Note: The final, selected entry will become the property of The Velvet Pen.)
