Gene Dorio, Dr. Print E-mail

Gene Dorio, M.D. has practiced Internal Medicine in the SCV since 1988. A member of the medical staff at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, he is very active in local senior affairs.

Gene Dorio, M.D. has practiced Internal Medicine in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1988. He is a member of the medical staff at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. Raised in Southern California, Dr. Dorio graduated from Los Angeles High School and Occidental College. Most of his medical education was on the East Coast, but he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Irvine.

Because Dr. Dorio provides much of his care to the senior population, he is one of those rare physicians that still does housecalls. From this evolved his locally seen television show “Housecall for Seniors” (Channel 20 at 10:30 am on Fridays). “Television has allowed us to educate the senior population beyond the confines of the medical office” he feels. Some of the titles include: “You Can Still Go Far If You Don’t Have a Car”, “So You Know It’s the Flu, Now What Do You Do?”, “Don’t Forgo H2O”, and the award winning “So Your Eyes Are Out of Wack, Might Be a Cataract!”

Dr. Dorio and Barbara Stearns Cochran host “The Senior Hour” on KHTS emphasizing “Quality of Life” issues. “Probably the most important activity to maintain one’s quality of life for our seniors is exercise” he explains. With that, as an avid runner, Dr. Dorio is proud to have completed the Santa Clarita Marathon, as well as the Los Angeles Marathon.

Involved in many community activities, Dr. Dorio assists fund raising for local groups and charities. Additionally, he is the founding president of a support group for divorced parents and grandparents, Mr Mom & Mrs Dad ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
