The fire blocked off both lanes of the truck route near the 5/14 split after breaking out just before 9 a.m. Thursday.
“It’s a big-rig on fire,” said Vanessa Lozano, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “But it did not spread to the brush. They have units responding right now.”
The engine compartment of the truck was “fully involved” when first responders arrived, meaning fire had spread to the entire engine compartment from the engine.
Nobody was injured in the fire, Lozano said.
The Sierra Highway on-ramp to the northbound 5 freeway has been shut down indefinitely, according to CHP records.
