Deputies Investigate Fatal Saugus Traffic Collision, Speed Considered A Factor

One person was killed in a Saugus traffic collision on Bouquet Canyon Road Wednesday night, according to sheriff’s officials.

Deputies were still on scene determining what caused the fatal crash as of 10:45 p.m., said Lt. Carter of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Officials described the victim as a man, approximately 24, who had reportedly been traveling at a high speed when he lost control of the vehicle.

According to social media posts from the station, the driver hit a utility pole.

First responders first recieved the call around 9:10 about a two-car collision on Bouquet Canyon Road near Wellston Drive with a person possibly trapped, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector David Michel.

“It came across as a traffic collision, person trapped, with a report of a possible fatality,” he said. “One patient was transported by (ambulance).”

At least one person had to be extracted using the Jaws of Life, fire officials confirmed.

The cause of the crash has not been disclosed by investigators. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.

Deputies at the scene told a KHTS reporter around 11 p.m. that Bouquet Canyon Road from Plum Canyon Road to Wellston Drive would be blocked off for several hours for their investigation.
