Fresno Woman Killed In Saturday Crash On I-5

A Fresno woman was identified by coroner’s officials as the victim in a fatal traffic collision on the southbound I-5 Saturday morning.

Virigina Almajer, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders at around 10 am Saturday, said Lt. Molano with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Almajer was traveling along the I-5 southbound with three other passengers Saturday morning when her vehicle lost control and hit a divider wall, according to officials.

“All four patients (were) from the same vehicle,” Amy Bastman, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson said. “Including three children and one adult female.”

An 8-year-old boy reportedly sustained critical injuries from the crash. The conditions of the other children in the vehicle were not released by officials.

A SigAlert was issued for the I-5 South near the Highway 14 interchange after CHP shut down the two leftmost lanes, with traffic backed up to Lyons Avenue.
