A weeklong activity designed to promote startups will return to Santa Clarita Tuesday, when the “Innovate SCV” program begins with three events that highlight entrepreneurship in today’s global economy.

“From turning an idea into a business and learning how to collaborate with others to prototyping a unique product,” a news release said, “this year’s ‘Innovate SCV’ campaign focuses on inspiring doers and self-starters from all backgrounds.”

Starting Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., “The Startup Grind Santa Clarita Chapter”, powered by Google for Entrepreneurs, will host the first event.

This kickoff event will feature Rahul Sonnad, Co-Founder and CEO of Tesloop — who will speak on his career, including selling a company for $100 million, and his latest undertaking to revolutionize the transportation sector.

On Wednesday, Nov. 15, starting at 8 a.m., the Steamwork Center in Santa Clarita will host “1 Million Cups Santa Clarita” — which is free to the public.

“1 Million Cups Santa Clarita” is developed by the Kauffman Foundation, with the idea that entrepreneurs can discover creative solutions and expand their network over a million cups of coffee.

On Nov. 17 to 19, the final segment of the series, titled “Startup Weekend SCV,” will take place at College of The Canyons in Valencia.

“Startup Weekend SCV” will start Friday from 6:30 – 10 p.m. and continue through 10 p.m. Sunday.

The weekend long event will organize teams of developers, designers, marketers and businesspeople with the goal of building a startup in just 54 hours.

This final event includes meals, opportunities to network, a keynote speaker, team building, coaching, customer development and rapid-fire startup pitches.  Startup Weekend activities finish with a Shark Tank-style judging session.
