  1. I’m a resident of Elizabeth Lakes area and have been a commuter through San Francisqueto canyon for many years. This morning i witnessed the aftermath of another fatality in the canyon, my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones this morning.
I drove slowly by the scene and asked if medical responders had been notified ,someone said yes. however i didn’t see any until i was almost out of the canyon. My heart ached in knowing it would be to late before medical attention would reach the victims. There was someone on scene from another vehicle performing CPR ,thank you kind person for your efforts.
These fatality in the canyon have been on the rise. San Francisqueto canyon is beautiful and scenic but many people drive through the canyon at the speed of light and passing others in dangerous areas. on many occasions i have feared for my life and that of others i share the road with. This canyon is in need of more patrolling , we are losing too many lives. The lives of people we hold in our hearts, lives that are irreplaceable.
Please if your driving through the canyon or driving anywhere on our roads have respect and sympathy for others that you share the road with because their physical existence on this earth matters to someone .

    • Friday I was Driving home from Santa Clarita on San Francisquito Canyon road and I was passed on a curve where there was a double yellow line. I was going between 55 to 60 Miles Per Hour and I couldn’t believe someone would do such a stupid thing. I was hoping that a Sheriff or CHP would’ve seen this and given him a Ticket. I myself am no perfect angel on the road but if the driver who passed me on the curve reads this, I hope he takes the crash into consideration before trying to it can again. I am not mad at the guy but think of the possible consequences before doing it again. I have a wife and four children with a whole gagle of Grandchildren and I would hate for them to loose their Dad and Grandpa. If the driver that passed me will drive more safely, I will call pull over and let them pass. I promise. And if we meet along the side of the road, I would like to shake can your hand and say Thank You. Remember they are your friends on the road, not your Enemies.

  2. So many lives have been lost on SAN Francisquito Canyon. Senseless accidents, people in a hurry to save 2 minutes. The person who caused this didn’t save any time and now has to live with the jnoeledge that he killed someone and his child. Just to save time. Slow down People and pay attention.

  3. This is a dangerous road with too few traffic controls to protect both residents and driver’s alike! I’m not sure if it’s city controlled or county controlled, but a joint assessment is needed to save peoples lives! If it make’s it a slower road, so be it!

  4. Please update info on this accident. Family member involved

  5. The drive this road twice a day 5 days a week. Where is accident happened is the best part of this road: flat, two miles of passing lanes. This happened in broad daylight. No alcohol involved? was he drugs. No excuse this this mess.

Now a 7-year old child is dead!

People drive like lunatics on this road. Cops are Rarely patrol this area, and yes, the cops drive well over the speed limit all the time.

No cell service, not a single (solar powered) call box.

Proof that is you are not wealthy (live in rural area) this California government could care less!

Another part of this road had concrete around around a small overpass carry the water main. This was finished over two years ago, yet the huge, long, K-rails are still there. Have no intention of removing them until they find a cheaper and better guard rail that is 1 foot from the concrete.

Cannot wait to get out of this state!!!

  6. Maybe it is not the fault of the road. If people drove the speed limit not risking people’s lives to save some time, It would be safe. Maybe we should have better was to slow people down?

  7. I could not agree more with many of these comments about this road. Having driven this road too many times to count and see people passing one another all the time and traveling at unsafe speeds. Two lines or or one, lines do not stop people from passing cars on single lane roads like this one. The area is never patrolled and cops drive past the speed limit on the road as well. The road was recently repaved which only makes going faster that much easier. Maybe money should be spent on k-rails/Jersey barriers to actually help keep people safe. This road has caused so many lives to be lost maybe it is time the city/county or state do something to actually help.
