The race will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Bridgeport Park in Valencia.

Thousands of rubber ducks are expected to make their way from Bolden Pond into the churning rapids of a man-made waterway, ending at the finisher’s chute.

A number will be attached to the bottom of each duck, relating to the person’s name on the adoption papers. The first duck through the chute at the finish line will be the grand prize winner.

A maximum of 5,000 ducks will be entered in the race, so it is encouraged to adopt an entire flock of ducks ($5 donation per duck) for more chances of winning a cash prize or one of several other prizes, according to the website.

Prize winners will be announced following the race and winners don’t have to be present to win, but are encouraged to attend the event.

Other activities during the event include the Los Angeles County Fire Department “Shakey Quakey” earthquake house, photo booth, rock climbing, food, performers and raffle prizes.

Online adoptions will close Friday, October 14 at 5 p.m., but they can be adopted from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on race day.

All proceeds from this event will go toward patient care services at SDFHC.

Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers offer affordable, quality, primary health care for residents of the Santa Clarita Valley and make an effort to serve the under and uninsured, according to their website.
