“The Circle of Hope is an organization that supports cancer (patients) in the Santa Clarita Valley, and supports education and any needs that a person has,” said Nola Aronson, owner of Advanced Audiology.

As a 15-year survivor of breast cancer, the cause is close to Aronson’s heart.

“I had to go through a lot of trials and tribulations to accept the fact that I had breast cancer and the treatments that I had to go through, but I’m very lucky because I’m in the medical community and I know a lot of good doctors and I have good insurance,” she said. “An organization like Circle of Hope is very important because some of those women do not have the opportunities that I had … and the Circle of Hope provides those opportunities for them.”

Advanced Audiology is also the title sponsor of this year’s Circle of Hope Afternoon Tea fundraiser, which is set for Saturday, Oct. 10 at Robinson Ranch in Santa Clarita.

“If you do something about your hearing health in the month of October, you’re not only helping yourself, but then you’re helping others also in the community,” Aronson said. “So it’s a really good time to do something about it.”

Those living with untreated hearing loss can struggle with a variety of deficits as a result, ranging from difficulty hearing the television or radio to avoiding social situations because of their inability to participate in conversations. In addition, hearing loss can be dangerous if the person can’t hear a siren when driving or a smoke alarm going off in their home.

“The good part about all of this is that Advanced Audiology offers free hearing screenings to everybody, so it really doesn’t take much,” Aronson said. “A lot of people resist coming in for a hearing screening because they know they have some problem and they don’t want to be, quote, ‘sold’ a hearing aid. So we don’t ‘sell’ hearing aids at Advanced Audiology, we provide hearing solutions.”

Advanced Audiology staff provide counseling of all different kinds, Aronson added, with a goal of educating individuals on the importance of hearing so they can better communicate and participate in their social lives more fully.

“That is our motto, and that is what we stand by,” she said.
