“Even if you don’t think you have a hearing problem, come in and get a free hearing screening,” said Santa Clarita hearing aid specialist and audiologist Nola Aronson. “That baseline is really important… We get our eyes checked once a year, we get our teeth checked every six months to a year. Advanced Audiology wants to be part of your wellness and health program.”

Aronson recalled a patient who came in for a baseline hearing screening about a year ago and found that she had normal hearing. Recently, the woman was in a car crash and lost her hearing in one ear when the airbag deployed.

“She lost all her hearing in that ear, but now we can show the insurance company that she did have normal hearing (prior to the crash),” Aronson said.

For those who do have a hearing loss, Aronson stressed that her philosophy at Advanced Audiology is not to simply sell hearing aids, but to offer the education and resources her patients need to improve their communication and quality of life.

Santa Clarita Audiologist Nola Aronson of Advanced Audiology “Advanced Audiology is educating people out there, teaching you about your hearing and we’re giving you solutions to whatever problems come up,” she said. “We’re not just selling a hearing aid– that’s like buying a commodity. You’re buying a whole program when you come to us.”

Hearing loss can not only lead to isolation and depression, but has also been linked to diseases like Alzheimer’s and heart disease, according to Aronson.

“We can’t afford not to do something about it,” she said.
