Alexia Cina, 21, of Canyon Country is slated to return to court on March 6, for a pre-trial hearing in relation to the Oct. 6 crash that killed a mother-of-six, according to officials.

Toxicology reports indicate Cina had a blood alcohol content of .21 at the time of the crash, almost three times the legal limit of .08.

Cina is facing one felony count each of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol content causing injury, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Evans was returning home after visiting her twin daughters — who were born prematurely at the UCLA Intensive Care Unit — when Cina allegedly crashed into her, Sheriff’s officials said. Evans was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Katie was at UCLA every day, holding her baby girls,” said an individual close to the Evans family.

“Too many Santa Clarita families have been tragically impacted because of drunk driving,” said Bob Sharits, The Way Out Recovery SCV’s program director. “Katie Evans’ death should be a wakeup call for our valley.”

Evans leaves behind her husband and six children: four boys, ages 12, 11, 9 and 2, as well as the twin girls.

To help the Evans family with community support, The Santa Clarita Coalition created a Facebook page to support the family with support and aid.

In December of 2017, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies reminded the Evans family that they have not been forgotten.

“We just wanted to come here out here tonight to the Evans family just to let them know we’re thinking about them during this time of the year,” said Deputy Brian Heischuber.

  1. I’d rather see her booking photo then the one you keep
Publishing. Why are you trying to slant sympathy for her.

  2. I was just incarcerated with alexia and she shows no remorse and acts like she is in there just for a simple dui I didn’t know the extent of her case til I read this article and now I feel sick to my soul that she is being given as much slack as she is in a school dorm in county jail

  3. Wow! #RiP to the mother & prayers for her family and friends….BUT I now question this system, more than I did before. For starters, I have come close to hitting a center median before, WHILE SOBER; also at regular speed; so I’m sure there was no intent there. However, this case shows that every victim is categorized differently or that the scale isn’t even. I didn’t see full blown family pics and hundreds and thousands donated to the TWO victim’s families, killed by unlicensed Chelsea Arcos, who was not ONLY intoxicated, but left the scene of the accident, as if nothing happened.

Maybe it’s that one of the two has an LAPD LIEUTENANT DADDY. NEVERTHELESS THE GIRLS WERE THE SAME AGE AT THE TIME AND THIS ONE IS ALREADY GUILTY WITHOUT TRIAL.
