Cina, 21, currently faces one felony count each of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol content causing injury, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

At the time of the crash, Evans was returning home after visiting her twin daughters who were born prematurely at the UCLA Intensive Care Unit.

Evans was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

Toxicology reports indicate Cina had a blood alcohol content of .21 at the time of the crash, almost three times the legal limit of .08.

Evans left behind her husband and six children: four boys, ages 12, 11, 9 and 2, as well as the twin girls. Her husband, Jacob Evans, partnered with KHTS in December to create two drunk driving PSA videos.

Cina will be seen in court again for a preliminary setting on May 31, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

A prelim setting is a part of the pre-trial process where a judge decides when a case will have a preliminary hearing.

Prosecutors can also use the prelim setting to negotiate a plea deal with defendants, with judges extending the prelim setting phase while these talks happen.

  1. I can only hope she’s being held without bail. The author of this article left it out. Really? Journalism 101. Get with it Aaron

  2. This is the worst written and most pointless article. Waste of time and space. KHTS clearly can only employ novice writers, as evidence shows.

  3. Why so critical? The woman of whom he speaks of, was one of the most loving and caring human beings on earth. I would say Her story is more important than anything here. May the Lord comfort and continue to Bless the Evans Family. Sounds like they are doing Well & the community sure came through to help keep them strong.
