The initial call was reported to fire officials as a structure fire at a home on the 12600 block of Sierra Highway, according to Supervisor Diaz of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire, which reportedly started across the street from Le Chene, around 3 a.m., burned a home and a barn near the tucked away restaurant. The fire was considered out by about 4:48 a.m., Diaz added. Aerial units, including helicopters drops, were part of the containment effort.
The residence and barn across the street from the restaurant were a total loss, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials, who confirmed the suspicion was arson. The restaurant was unharmed, according to Mark Elsebusch, who was close enough to the area to snap the photo featured.
The home that burned was about 50 yards back from Sierra Highway, and the fire burned the hills behind the home. The fire also burned two acres of brush surrounding the area, according to Fire Department officials.
Deputies with the Sheriff’s Station were on scene and still in the initial phases of their investigation as of about 5:30 a.m., according to Lt. Becerra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
No one was transported to the hospital as a result of injury, per fire officials.
The initial calls involved a possible dispute at the residence; however, Sheriff’s Station officials could only confirm at this time that deputies were on scene investigating.
