The Sheriff’s Station and KHTS AM-1220 organize a kickoff event every year with community partners such as Autonation Chevrolet, which is hosting this year’s event at 4 p.m. on Dec. 3.

One of the aspects making the event so popular every year is the toys donated from Santa Clarita Valley residents stay in the Santa Clarita Valley, officials said.

“All of the toys stay here in the community, and we work hand in hand with partnerships and different businesses,” Lapkin said, “and they host toy drive boxes at their locations.”

At the kickoff event, several Santa Clarita Valley schools and youth organizations, including Mitchell Elementary, Fair Oaks Elementary, Vibe Performing Arts School, SCVi and Santa Clarita Children’s Choir, among others, will be performing at Autonation Chevrolet from 4-7 p.m.
