At 10:42 a.m. a call came into LACoFD dispatch alerting first responders about a traffic collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle.
First responders were being called to an incident that had occurred near the Calgrove and The Old Road intersection, according to Art Marrujo, Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor.
LACoFD and paramedic squads from Station 124 arrived on the scene and found one victim lying on the ground due to an apparent collision between a motorist and a person on a bicycle.
Paramedics worked to determine the care needed to assist the injured at the scene of the accident, according to officials on scene.
“One patient was transported to a local area hospital,” said Marrujo.
CHP officers directed traffic around the collision, which was directly in front of southbound exit and entrance to the I-5 freeway.
Many samaritans were at the scene who assisted and waited with the bicyclist until emergency responders took charge of the situation, according to a KHTS reporter on scene.
Cyclists frequently use these roads along with motorists, and all parties using the area should be cautious and always double check for cars, pedestrians and cyclist, according to officials.
The status of the individual that was transported is unknown at this time.
