“On behalf of the Club’s Governing Board, we are so thankful for this generous donation from C.A. Rasmussen,” said Boys & Girls Club CEO David Menchaca. “For the past two summers, we have been without air conditioning in our gymnasium and games room.”

The current air conditioning system was installed in 1992 and, as a result of countless summer heatwaves and general wear and tear of running for over 20 years, the air conditioning hasn’t been able to run in a few years.

The two new air conditioning units are valued at about $32,000 and are being provided by Valencia’s own Air Masters, Inc. as gifts donated by the Charles and Patricia Rasmussen Family Foundation.

“I couldn’t believe it when I heard the kids had no air conditioning these past two summers,” said Charles Rasmussen, president of Santa Clarita-based contractor C.A. Rasmussen Inc. “It is our pleasure to donate these two new, high-efficiency units to the club.”

The two brand new air conditioning units will be lifted by crane by OST Trucks and Cranes on Wednesday, when they will be installed by Air Masters, Inc.

“While we have had to manage the situation with some short-term strategies,” Menchaca said, “these new units provide a permanent solution and will serve the club and the children for many years to come.”

  1. On behalf of all of the Sierra Vista Junior High School Students and Parks & Recreation Basketball kids and parents that play in that “hot box” I THANK YOU!

Now for a big question? Does the Foundation have any more donation monies available to donate Air Conditioning to the Canyon High School gymnasium? Charles, did you know that the high school has NEVER had air conditioning in its gym? They have a circulation system that pulls in the heat of the desert air to boot. The industrial fans placed by the doors were broken for a few years and finally TWO were replaced to give off a hint of air flow for the hard working athletes that use the gym. Then, when there are student pep rallies it becomes a different kind of “hot box”! The various occasions I have encountered spectating sports or Music festivals in the gym are just down right uncomfortable!

I am a Canyon Parent and I would love to see if you can further spread your generosity to the Canyon Country Community by partnering with the Hart School District to help provide a “healthy” air quality for our students.

Thank you for what you have currently provided and for what you may be able to do in the future as I think, by reading your comment above, “not believing they didn’t have air conditioning in the gym” is the same sentiment I have!

    I appreciate your philanthropic spirit!
