On Dec. 11 at around 4:10 p.m., Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a kidnapping at Billy Beez at the Westfield Valencia Town Center.
Upon arrival, Cordell Shear, 42, told deputies that his 5-year-old daughter had been kidnapped.
“Upon further investigation, deputies found that the man had barged into a business using profanities and allegedly demanded an employee call 9-1-1,” said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Deputies determined that the man’s daughter was safe with her mother after the mother had notified Shear that they would not be making it to a custody visitation, according to Miller.
Deputies arrested Shear on two misdemeanor charges of filing a false police report and disturbing the peace, with bail set at $10,500, according to arrest records.
