A Canyon Country resident was arrested this past Saturday after deputies received reports that a domestic dispute between roommates had grown into a case of potential elder abuse.

On Oct. 13, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station deputies were called to a residence located on the 16600 block of Nearview Drive in Canyon Country after dispatchers had received reports of a domestic disturbance breaking out between two roommates.

But when deputies arrived on scene, they found what they believe to be a case involving a 57-year-old roommate, Kevin Wood, taking an argument with his 79-year-old male roommate beyond just words.

“Reportedly, there were incidents that occurred that involved verbal arguments that escalated into physical altercations,” said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station. “Wood was arrested on Elder Abuse charges.”

Paramedics were called to the scene of the incident, but the victim refused medical treatment and transport, according to Miller.

Wood was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on a felony level charge and his bail was set at $50,000.
