The selected jury found Nicholas Colletta, 21, guilty on all four counts, including first degree murder with the allegation that the crime was committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang, possession of a firearm by a felon with three priors, unlawful possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.

Colletta allegedly shot and killed Ivan Solis, 25, at Begonias Lane Park in Canyon Country in 2017, according to officials.

Solis was at the park shortly before 5 a.m. on July 11 when witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots.

When deputies arrived, they discovered Solis dead from multiple gunshot wounds near the park restrooms.

Colletta was later arrested and charged with premeditated murder. He is a previously convicted felon, with three priors in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Jaqueline Arreola, 24, who was at the crime scene when law enforcement arrived, was arrested as an accessory for Solis’ murder for allegedly having knowledge of the crime and deliberately concealing it.

Arreola pleaded no contest on April 3 to one count of accessory after the fact. She testified as a witness in Colletta’s trial.

Sentencing for Arreola is scheduled on Dec. 10.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 19, 2019.

  1. Someone only 21 with 3 felonies already should have been serving time rather than out on the streets to commit more crimes. This is a typical example of the failure of the system to protect its citizens.
