Donovan Kuhlman, 20, was charged with robbery, burglary and criminal threats. Amber Hunter, 33, was charged with accessory to a felony, as she is believed to have acted as a getaway driver for Kuhlman, according to Shirley Miller, public information officer for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The incident began when Kuhlman allegedly made threats at a store on the corner of Soledad Canyon Road and Sand Canyon Road. Kuhlman also reportedly claimed that he had a gun, according to Miller.

At approximately 5 p.m., Kuhlman fled on foot with what deputies believe was a possible firearm, officials stated.

Kuhlam ran through multiple properties in Canyon Country, and is believed to have broken a window from a house on Mirrorview Drive while fleeing from law enforcement officials.

During the initial stages of the pursuit, additional Sheriff’s vehicles, including L.A. County’s helicopter unit, were called in by authorities in order to find a white Mercedes suspected of being involved in the incident, according to officials

In order to prevent the suspects from escaping, authorities said that law enforcement established a blockade on Kenroy Avenue.

The pursuit ended at a home near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Sand Canyon Road in Canyon Country.

The individuals, a male and a female, were taken into custody at gunpoint, but were apprehended in separate locations, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Witnesses on scene reported seeing officials with the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), the tactical unit of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, leading up to the apprehension of the suspect.

No weapon was found at the scene, Miller stated.
