The 198-acre site displayed cranes moving heavy loads across the sky, buildings being reinforced by workers, final touches given on the bare steel structure of the performing arts center, and flat land that will welcome future athletes.
“This is the most modern school that they’re going to have. I think it’s going to be architecturally the most interesting school,” said Randy Wrage, project manager for Castaic High School.
The building selected to be the STEM building has a curved feature that sets it apart from the many other buildings on the campus.
The architecture of the buildings presents low-profile structures of 1 or 2 stories which are designed to blend in with Castaic’s natural topography, according to the project’s website.

When complete, the buildings will be able to comfortably house a student body of 2,600.
Castaic High School is expected to include classes that focus on industrial arts, certifications and preparation for careers that can begin right out of high school.
“People in Castaic don’t have a class reunion to go back to because they’ve attended Hart or Valencia or West Ranch, but there hasn’t been a community school. So this is really going to be a neat opportunity for the community of Castaic to have their own place,” said Wrage.
Construction on the highly anticipated school is under way and is expected to begin holding classes for the first group of students by August 2019.
