Linda Myers, 60, of Castaic, was charged and booked after being evaluated at a hospital Friday night, according to Deputy Josh Stamsek of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Deputies originally responded to a “welfare check” at the Castaic Lake Senior Apartments around 4 p.m. Friday, said Deputy Joanna Warren, a LASD spokesperson, during an on-scene press conference.

The initial call came from the L.A. County Department of Public Social Services after officials became concerned with the woman’s “bizarre and paranoid behavior,” according to Warren.

“She has a history of mental illness,” Warren said. “(Sheriff’s) have dealt with her in the past.”

When deputies arrived, Myers shot one bullet through her door in the direction of law enforcement, according to Sheriff’s officials.

The 60-year-old woman then barricaded herself in the Castaic apartment for over seven hours, according to LASD officials.

The Sheriff’s Department brought in their tactical unit, the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), the Mental Evaluation Team (MET) and the Crisis Negotiation Team.

The standoff came to an end around 11 p.m., after SEB unit officials used a “flashbang” — a device which explodes with a loud noise and bright flash designed to disorient subjects but does not disperse projectiles — and gained entry to the apartment.

Myers was taken away in an ambulance for evaluation at a local hospital.

She was later booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, and is being held on $2 million bail.

Lina Myers is set to appear in the San Fernando Courthouse on Sept. 18.

  1. How can they charge her attempted murder when there is no bullet hole in the door and they tore the place apart today no weapon recovered.
