The Charlie Fire was first reported at 2:40 p.m. in the 31000 block of Charlie Canyon Road, according to Joey Marron, inspector for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Within two hours of the blaze beginning, the Charlie Fire had jumped to 1,200 acres, and caused a number of evacuations and road closures.
Helicopters, a fixed-wing aircraft and SuperScoopers aided from the air to attack the blaze, as the remote nature of the fire’s location made land-based transportation difficult.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation, according to authorities.
