Chili Cook Off To Kick Off In October

Heated competition from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Fun in the Sun Chili Cook Off is scheduled to take place at Pitchess Detention Center in October, officials said.

Families and community members can eat some chili and vote for their favorite recipes by purchasing chili cards at an expected 25 chili booths Saturday, Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All of the proceeds raised during the event will help benefit the Special Olympics Santa Clarita and Tri-Valley, officials said.

“It’s a fun event for the entire family and they are also supporting the special olympics,” said Laura Mayo, regional director at Special Olympics Southern California. “We have over 1,400  athletes that we provide sports and training for.”

The event is also set to feature a classic car show, live music, a kid’s zone and more.

Different sponsorships levels are also available for purchase allowing business to be featured at the event.
