College of the Canyons officials announced a $1,000 scholarship opportunity students enrolled in the school’s Cooperative Work Experience (CWE) program can apply for.

Every year the California Internship Work Experience Association (CIWEA) awards two scholarships to Community College student for the Bernard L. Hyink Scholarship.
Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 are awarded to one 4-year and one 2-year college recipient at the CIWEA Annual Conference in the spring.
For the last two years, College of the Canyons students won the 2016-2017 scholarships for 2-year community colleges.

Each year, COC students who have participated in internship and work experience programs CWE-188 or CWE-189 are eligible to apply for the Bernard L. Hyink Scholarship.
Students are instructed to apply through a CIWEA member on their campus or internship/work site by submitting an essay that describes how their academic internship, co-op, or work experience has influenced their career choice.
Students can seek assistance with their essay at the TLC at COC. Bring your COC student ID card and mention that you need help with a “scholarship essay.” Check with the TLC for hours of operation.
The deadline to submit the essay is January 12, 2018.
