Next week, the county’s Workforce Development Board is hosting a community forum in the Santa Clarita Valley, hoping to get input for a regional plan to stimulate jobs.

The forums are inviting the community leaders who will play a role in enacting the a regional plan for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
“As a part of our Southern California workforce development family, we are seeking your invaluable input and feedback for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Regional Plan that is being co-developed with the L.A. Basin Region’s seven Workforce Development Boards,” officials stated Thursday.
The WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.
The WIOA was passed by a wide bipartisan majority; it is the first legislative reform in 15 years of the public workforce system, according to the WIOA website.
WIOA America’s Job Centers of California (AJCC) partners including: business organizations, labor, economic development entities, local municipalities community colleges, adult education providers, representatives of K-12 education, community based organizations, faith based organizations and other WIOA partners and stakeholders to discuss key topics that will be central to the development and implementation of the L.A. Basin Regional Plan.
The Santa Clarita Valley meeting is set to take place at the following location.
