Crash In Saugus Friday Evening Kills One

 A head-on collision in Saugus sent one person to the hospital with fatal injuries Friday evening, and shut down some traffic on Haskell Canyon Rd. as investigators looked over the crash.

“Two people were transported,” said Supervisor Melaine Flores with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

One of the patients transported later died in the hospital, officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.

“The female adult in the sedan,” was killed, said Sgt. Scott Shoemaker.

The collision involving a small sedan and a pickup truck happened shortly after 5 p.m. Friday on Haskell Canyon Rd. near  Officials blocked off northbound traffic while they investigated the crash.

Officials do not yet know if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.

The identity of the woman killed has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
