A man, whose identity was not immediately available, and Jessica Broabnax, 28, of Las Vegas, were arrested by deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Crime Impact Team, or CIT, following numerous Santa Clarita residents complaints about door-to-door salesmen being aggressive while selling cleaning products.

The suspects allegedly became aggressive while trying to sell cleaning products to potential customers door-to-door in the Castaic, Saugus and Stevenson Ranch areas, Dubin said.

CIT deputies, a city-funded specialized team that addresses city residents’ concerns, quality-of-life issues and other crimes in the community, made the arrests after investigating complaints posted on Facebook, as well as calls to the station.

The male suspect was arrested, given a ticket with a court date and released for a charge of soliciting door-to-door without a license, a misdemeanor charge.

Broabnax was cited and then taken into custody for an outstanding warrant in connection with a prostitution charge in Orange County, according to Sheriff’s Department officials.

The post on Facebook, which was also shared from Nextdoor, described a pushy salesman who was selling a “magic cleaner.”

Deputies believe the company is from out of the area.

There are not believed to be any other crimes connected to the group of salespeople, however, deputies are aware of the situation and monitoring it, officials said.

“We’re advising residents that if these people come to the door and get aggressive that you immediately call the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121,” Dubin said.

Aggressive door-to-door sales is a violation of Santa Clarita municipal code 11.37.020, Dubin said.

Broabnax is currently being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, although she’s expected to be transferred into custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

  1. This woman came to our door in castaic just a couple days ago ! I couldn’t believe how rude she was !
Glad to know she’s been arrested !

  2. my stepdaughter on Huston in SR was approached by these creeps! The man tried to get her to come outside!

  3. I had this same problem in the Copperhill area where I live. I was leaving my house when a young girl about 13 years old approached me and told me they are offering free floor cleaning in the neighborhood today. I thought that’s awesome how long will it take she said 10 minutes. I asked what time ,she said they are just finishing up at a house down the street. I said sounds great. Then 10 minutes later I get a knock at the door and it’s two young guys in suits holding a big box. When I opened the door they said they were here to clean my floors, I let them in (I know so so stupid of me , what was I thinking but I knew my husband would be home in 10min, still dumb though) they were so so pushy trying to sell me a Kirby Vacuum for 4k and 10 min go by I said I thought my floors were gonna get cleaned and they kept saying they are waiting for the buffer next door. I couldn’t get them to leave, I tried everything , if my husband didn’t walk through the door I was dialing 911. When they left an unmarked white van pulled up really fast and picked the 2 men up. It was very scary and I put myself in a very dangerous position. Just wanted to share my story incase it happens to anyone else in SCV !!!

  4. They came to my door and ran away when I came outside. I mean mugged them

  5. The lady stole my amazon package that was at my front door! Glad they caught them!

  6. the fake Kirby vacuum people come by our house around the holidays every year; they are a Hispanic couple. Theyre very rude and their Flyers are fake as well, and I’ve called the sheriff’s more than once and they won’t come. My neighbor’s are older so I fear for their safety. I know they are scoping out the house for a robbery later. This year they’ll get a surprise if they get pushy with me this time.

  7. Thank you! They were a huge problem. They told my neighbor there were people fighting in her driveway just to get her to open the door.

  8. She came to my house and was very nice and respectful. I purchased the cleaner because I loved it the last time I purchased it a few years ago. She was not pushier than any other sales people. I’m actually saddened that our community has taken it this far. I think door to door sales have definitely increased to the point of annoyance and people are very much so on edge about it. I’m sorry for those that felt uncomfortable in their homes, that should never be. Jessica was fun we had a great conversation and the man came back later with a spray bottle and simply left it on the door. When I answered he was already back at his car waving saying thank you. If he wanted to check out my house that would have been the time but he didn’t. My experience was very different than most.

  9. I am so glad to hear this. The lady came to my door and it was the first time I ever argued with a solicitor, and we get a lot of them! She was super pushy and when I asked for a business card she became angry and argumentative. When she left I was so shaken that I was literally scared she would come back and deface our property in some way. So glad to hear they were charged!

  10. organuze a neighborhood watch program in your neighborhood. your local police will come speak to you and bring you NO SOLICITORS stickers for your front doors! its againsttge law to disobey that sticker!
You can also get neighborhood watch stivkers fir your
homes! call your lical authorities. they will help you
Also Nixle.com is an effort with local authorities whereby you sign up and get all the info from pd regarding local police activity. i am a block captain for my street. get organized because its notgoing to get any better withthe desperation of funds and the holudays approaching. be safe

  11. There must be away to make it expensive and difficult for door to door salesman to operate . Especially the pathetic ADT salesman that look like the guys you want to keep out of your house. I don’t want telemarketers or door to door salesman bothering me or my family. With all the different ways criminals are trying to gain entrance to your home I don’t answer the door to anyone I don’t know.

    • There is a way, John. Build a fence around your house tall enough that a salesperson couldn’t climb over it. Or, you could move to a gated community. Granted, you might make it more expensive for yourself, trying to find a safeguard against those annoying salespeople.

Otherwise, you’ll have to continue to live in your pathetic fantasyland, living in constant fear. Of what? I don’t know. How many times have people tried to break into your home? What are some of these so-called, “all the different ways criminals are trying to gain entrance to your home?”

And why would anybody want to rob YOU? Are you so filthy rich that you have a target on your back that only criminals can see? Do you have criminals constantly scoping your place out? I’m curious where your notions and paranoia come from. So what do you do when someone knocks on your door? Do you hide behind your curtains until the stranger leaves, or do you shout to them that you’re just a big pussy and that you’re deathly afraid of strangers and that you won’t open the door to anybody you don’t know?

      • He’s not answering because he’s afraid of being robbed. I am not answering because i am of sick of being bothered in my home by door to door sales. And if they knock on my GD door one more time between 6 and 7pm (ie family dinner time) don’t expect sweetness and light.

  12. what’s Sad is that you people would judge this lady the way that you guys are doing ive been
coming to santa Claritafor a long time and to hear that the peopleare judging this lady I readhow somebody said that they took something or she took something of their porch an Amazon package well how come you didn’t report that to the police not only that what makes her a connection with that there’s other and hundreds of Duty or groups not only thatI feel she wasn’t targeted as a salesperson or solicitor I feel she was targeted as a colored girl in a predominantly white neighborhoodbecause most of the calls are black suspicious in the neighborhoodcuz we all know if there was a white guy or white lady and the guy had on a shirt and a tie slacks dress shoes and the young lady had on a dress she wouldn’t have been considered suspicious and what saddens me the most is that is 2014 and we still are judging people on the on the content of what they doand where they come from and we just people on the continent their past not the future when we should be judging people on the content of the character I will never come to Santa Clarita again because as long as the people there judge people the way that I’m hearing or seeing on this is really a shame the society that we live in is driven on violencewe should open more doors to more people that need help because I’m not sure if anybody that comment it was born with a silver spoon in their mouth but I’m sure this lady was and I’m sure she was out there just doing a job and providing for herself and her family how about we look at that instead of looking at things that you don’t know about or things that might not be trueI feel sorry for the young lady but I’m more for those sorry for the people of Santa Clarita for building a city and more of all the nation of people that are judging people the way that you do and I hope that you all don’t teach your kids the same things because this country will never be better with people that judge people the way that you are judging her and people that actually go door to door

    • James…She was “targeted” as a colored girl? Or was she rude and aggressive? Hmmm…rudeness and aggressiveness knows no color or ethnicity!

I’m sure she was just “out there trying to provide for her family” when she was prostituting in Orange County. Oh wait, she was profiled as a prostitute because she was black that’s right.

Guess what else knows no color…..??? Ignorance! And sir, you are the most ignorant sounding person.

    • Thank you for staying out of SCV from now on james. You ignorant idiot 🙂

  13. your stupid they won’t selling Kirby vacuums a******

  14. The lady was not dressed professionally at all. She came to my door dressed in jeans, sneakers, and a dirty blouse. She was playing music from her iPod that was in the backpack she was wearing, along with a huge Del Taco cup and a bag of Del Taco food. She proceeded to talk my ear off for 10 minutes and wouldn’t take no for an answer. She just kept talking. And when I finally said “no thank you” she got so rude and started mumbling things (presumably about me) under her breath. I closed my door and walked away and later looked back at my porch to find that she left all of her trash there. Classy lady.

Ps. $100 for a bottle of “magic cleaner” cmon now.

  15. They came to the Vistas apts on Copperhill, offering to clean one room for free. Even after several, “No thanks” and my story that my brother who lives with me works for a carpet cleaning firm , the girl still wouldn’t leave my front door.

  16. oHe. he gravy people have been here and sold me vacuum not only that we have 3 in the house so we only need one but the girl that was selling the Chemicals cleaner for the house which was biodegradable usable around children citrus scent. I could have got the whole package $ 120.00 but you know what she sold me a bottle for $40.

During my conversation with her, she disclosed that she had a rough life, prostitution and who knows what kind of life she lived in the streets. I bought the product because she was not laying on her back to get her money. She was trying to better herself and found a job to stabilize her ability to revert back to normal society.

I do agree that her personality was somewhat unattractive according to her sales approach. The police should not have been called. The job selling products from house to house is very difficult especially when she has little to verbal communication skills but hey someone must not have taught her respect. But to each his own. And yes it may have been her skin color. Those things are usually taught

  17. LOL… I fell for this trick in 2004-05, good 10 years back!
first a lady offers free cleaning…
    then two men appear….
push for 2 hours about their 2k vacuum cleaner….

each guy will go to different rooms in your house , even when you scream NO…
hard to monitor what they do in multi floor houses.
you kinda feel they are scoping out your house for future robbery?!!!!

Finally held the phone to dial 911, then the lady got nervous…
    She pulled the guys…
guess what the same white van pulls up and take these people …

ran and took the van/s license plate photo just in case if they were to return …lol…
yep… also did an internet search on the white van vaccum people after they left….

    • I had a similar story two years ago.
I was telling the team that our family was going out for a early dinner, and we couldn’t stay home any longer after I told them we were not interested to buy their product. After nearly two hours of headache, they finally gone. My goodness.

  18. I had the same thing happen at 8:30pm.
Said they were going to clean my floor for free but never did stop talking to do this.
It was some cleaning spray bottle stuff at first, then went to a vacuum cleaner.
When I found one going through a dresser as one kept talking, I took them to the basement for my own cleaning.

They are still down there………….. should I feed them?
