A person was arrested Wednesday evening for being under the influence of a controlled substance after telling a patrol deputy he was assaulted.

Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, a person with a rock in their hand was running down Lyons Avenue in Newhall, when he flagged a patrol car down and told the deputy that he was assaulted, said Lt. Ignacio Somoano with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The person told the deputy that he was assaulted by someone in a car and pointed at a vehicle with four individuals inside.

The deputy requested backup and when help arrived on scene a traffic stop was conducted on Railroad Avenue just north of Lyons Avenue.

“The four individuals were detained, but were released,” Somoano said. “After investigation deputies determined no crime was committed by the individuals.”

The person who claimed to be assaulted was taken to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and booked for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
