A man reportedly live-streamed his kidnapping and the dumping of his body, which apparently ended up near a river bed.

The Sheriff’s Station was alerted to a “ping” using the “Find My iPhone” app to an area of brush reportedly near a riverbed, nearly two-thirds of a mile south of the Newhall Ranch Road and Avenue Tibbitts intersection, in Valencia, around 6 p.m. officials said.

Station officials noted the investigation is still in the preliminary phases, and deputies have not determined evidence of a crime related to the incident as of 8:30 p.m.

Deputies are searching the area are also being assisted by helicopters.

No suspects have been identified and deputies are also looking into the possibility the incident was a performance or a possible hoax.

Station officials confirmed the phone was pinged to that area, and then pinged in the Bakersfield area sometime after 7 p.m.

Officials are investigating the report as a matter of procedure, and deputies have not made any arrests in connection with the report at this time.
