As a parent, you might find it challenging to motivate your young one to take an interest in science, but that no longer need be an issue.

Located less than a ten minute drive from where the 5 and 14 interchange is a 71,000 square foot facility housing exhibit after exhibit that are sure to light up any child’s eyes.

Each exhibit offers a different lesson and when Discovery Cube said hands on, that’s exactly what they mean.

The Science of Hockey exhibit is a perfect example and is one of the most technically advanced sports themed exhibits in the world, according to the Discovery Cube Los Angeles website.

Created in association with the Los Angeles Kings, this exhibit offers visitors a chance to learn about the math and science behind the game.

Designers worked closely with BaAm Productions to give the exhibit a feeling of authenticity that is second to none.

In one aspect of the Science of Hockey exhibit, participants put on a blocker and glove as a goalie, then try to block shots from virtual versions of L.A. Kings players Dustin Brown, Drew Doughty and Jeff Carter.

Or you can decide to be on the opposite side of the exhibit in “you be the shooter” and take shots on L.A. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick.

“You Be the Goalie/ You Be the Shooter” is only one of seven different parts to the Science of Hockey exhibit.

Another Discovery Cube Los Angeles exhibit favorite is the Discovery Market.

In a realistic setting, children and their parents can grab a shopping cart and a scanner to participate in a scavenger hunt.

In this game, children learn how to read nutrition labels which will hopefully promote healthier choices for them in the future.

The Discovery Market scavenger hunt also provides incentives. If you are successful in the hunt, your photo is proudly featured on a digital board.

For the younger Discovery Cube goer, the Los Angeles Campus currently features a Curious George exhibit.

In this exhibit, you enter the neighborhood where curious George lives with his friend, The Man with the Yellow Hat.

Wheels and pulleys move Curious George from window to window. Children also learn about color, light and shadow as they climb in and out of the building.

The “Sidewalk Produce Stand” lets you play the part of the customer or salesperson, helping children learn about shapes, colors, sorting, weighing and counting fruits and vegetables.

If the fun and interactive exhibits aren’t enough to get you there, a temporary admission fee of only $10 guarantees that the whole family can get in to Discovery Cube Los Angeles without breaking the bank.
