“It is an incredible honor to be recognized in this manner,” said College of the Canyons Chancellor Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook. “I’m especially grateful to the community members, faculty, staff, and administrators who have worked for so many years to shape the campus into the resource it is today.”

After it was announced that the road would be named after Van Hook in a ceremony last week that celebrated her 30 years at the helm of COC, school officials held another ceremony to commemorate naming the main road into the Canyon Country Campus “Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook Drive.”

“Over the past three decades, she has shaped the college,” said Eric Harnish, vice president of public information, advocacy and external relations for COC.

Hired at College of the Canyons on July 1, 1988, Van Hook has been behind the college’s ongoing expansion over the last 30 years, as well as the development of the Canyon Country Campus, according to officials.

“The Canyon Country Campus is a direct result of her untiring pursuit of making it a reality,” said Steven Zimmer, president of the COC board of trustees.

The COC board passed a resolution to name the campus’ main road “Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook Drive” at their board meeting on Aug. 22.

“I like the fact that ‘drive’ is in there, because drive is what got this campus to be where it is today,” said Van Hook at the unveiling ceremony.
