Stacey Koon, 67, pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol content, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Koon pleaded not guilty to DUI charges during a previous court appearance in August 2018.

In summary probation, which Koon was sentenced to 36 months of, there are no assigned probation officers or reporting requirements.

In addition to his sentencing, Koon must pay a $390 fine plus penalties and assessment fees, as well as complete a three-month DUI class and install an interlock device on his vehicle, according to officials.

Koon was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving on May 1, 2018, when he crashed his 1999 GMC Yukon into a Ford Super Duty pickup on Heather Lane in Castaic, according to Officer Eric Priessman of the California Highway Patrol.

Koon submitted to a blood test, which found that he was over the legal blood-alcohol content limit by a “decent amount,” according to officials.

Koon served time in prison for his involvement in the 1991 Rodney King beating after being charged with using excessive force.

Koon and several other officers were indicted that same year on federal civil rights charges, and he was convicted and sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

  1. Uh-oh, he’s a preacher, too.

  2. OK I get it. The police force is far from perfect. I think for every outrageously bad story about the police, we need to also publish an outrageously good one. Were there any major arrests made? a cat out of a tree? Something?
