Detectives reported the suspect, described as an unidentified white male in his 50s or 60s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, medium build, at around 2:38 p.m. Monday, June 12, walked into the Wells Fargo on Lyons Avenue, near Wiley Canyon Road, in Newhall, and handed a note across the counter.

The note threatened the teller with a gun while demanding $10,000 in $100 bills.

The suspect received the money, and then left the bank on foot, according to officials.

No one was hurt in the incident and no weapon was seen by witnesses, according to officials.

The suspect is still outstanding.

Detectives released the following photo of the man on the FBI website LABankrobbers.org, a site created to share photos of suspects in hopes of generating leads.

Earlier this week, detectives wouldn’t speculate as to whether the robbery was related, but a second robbery, involving a suspect who bore a similar appearance, took place at the Lyons Avenue Chase bank location.

The security camera pictures have not been released to the public in that crime.

However, the suspect is believed to have used a similar method: A white male in his 60s walked into the bank and handed the teller a note.

In the second instance the man is believed to have left the bank with several thousand dollars, although law enforcement officials rarely confirm or indicate the exact amount of a theft for several reasons.
