Festival Of Trees 2017 Benefiting Boys & Girls Club Kicks Off, Continues This Weekend (VIDEO)

The 2017 Festival of Trees, an annual fundraiser put on by the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley, kicked off Thursday and will continue through Sunday, providing festive trees and decorations for sale.

The festival features elaborately decorated trees available for viewing and purchase, according to the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley’s website.

These trees range from 6 to 9 feet, and some come with gifts of furniture, event tickets, wine, jewelry and more.

Festive items can also be purchased, including small tabletop trees, holiday wreaths and gingerbread houses.

A Kids Corner is being offered, where children can participate in arts and crafts and a number of other activities.

Live musicians, singers, dancers and magicians will perform throughout the festival.

A holiday boutique, presented by Cottage Lane Festivals, will offer booths with handmade items, fashion jewelry and accessories, clothes, food, gifts, holiday decor and more.

Holiday Hocus Pocus is set for Friday, Nov. 17 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event is kicked off with a full hour of close-up magic acts, followed by a family-friendly, professional-quality stage show featuring members of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, KIDabra SoCal and the world famous Magic Castle at 7 p.m.

On both Saturday and Sunday, pictures with Santa will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A photographer will take photographs of children with the jolly man for a suggested donation of $5.

On Saturday, No. 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Magic of the Lights Gala will feature a live auction, entertainment, hors devours by Wolf Creek, dessert and a no-host bar. Cost per adult is $75 or $1000 for a premier table for eight.  Guest attire is “dressy.”

The event is hosted by festival Co-Chairs G. Marshall & Kathleen E. Hann with special entertainment by the Santa Clarita Christian Fellowship Voices of Praise.

Cost of entry is $10 a person, and children under two enter for free.

  3. Okay, cool, so where is the event actually being held for the general public to attend??? A bit of an oversight in reporting on the event I’d think.

About Gilbert Bernal

Gilbert A. Bernal Jr. has been part of the KHTS video department since Jan 2017. He was hired as video editor in June 2017 after his four-month internship in the video department. While serving as a video intern, his duties were extended to become a multimedia journalist, producing news videos for KHTS News and Features. Gilbert was added to the KHTS team as part of the station’s continued growth and expansion. An Army veteran, father and local artist Gilbert has dedicated time and energy to volunteering at schools in the Santa Clarita Valley. At Pinetree Community Elementary School, in Canyon Country, Gilbert donated art for school auctions, photographed events and painted murals. At Canyon High, he gave two art demonstrations for the “Yes I Can” organization, a peer counseling class that focuses on learning about disabilities, social inclusion, and tolerance. Starting in Feb 2017 Gilbert launched the “KHTS Man On the Street” video features which gather and reports local opinion of Santa Clarita residents on current issues or events. A return student at College of the Canyons since 2014, Gilbert has been apart of the Media Entertainment Arts department working as a college assistant. After enrolling into the film program in 2014, he was hired to work in the camera equipment room (The Cage). There he helps students with film equipment rentals and technical advice. Gilbert received his associates degree in Film Production from College of the Canyons in 2017. He is continuing his educational path and plans to attend CSUN in Fall 2018 to work for a Bachelor's degree in Film.
