“it was a six acre fire,” said Bernard Peters, a supervising fire dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “They had it under control (by 3 p.m.).”

The blaze started at 2:17 p.m., said Peters, and crews were able to stop the forward motion of the fire in approximately 45 minutes.

The fire received a full ground unit response and air support, but the water-dropping helicopters were called off after the fire was contained.

No homes were damaged by the flames and no injuries were reported.

  1. Thank you, LAFD!
    Another job well done.

  2. I happened to be at the monthly Agua Dulce Airport barbeque at the time the fire happened yesterday. Our own Kathryn Barger was there too ( the lady running for Mike
    Antonovich’s seat).
I did not realize that the airport opened up their water and hydrant to the the fire services. The fire engine was repeatedly refilled with water from the fire engine – all water supplied by Aqua Dulce Airport – maybe their own well??
Then the helicopter kept coming in and getting refilled by the fire engine and taking the water off to fight the fire and then come back for more.
I have heard a lot of complaints about the airport. But look what they are doing!

If you don’t like aircraft noise then don’t buy a home near a long-established airport.
They do not allow jets and they do not allow night flying and are very respectful of the residents.
There are several posted signs that say “Please Fly Quietly”!

I think they deserve our support and thanks!
Al Hoffman is the airport manager and does a fantastic job.

  3. Don’t understand how this started. Why do these fires keep starting along empty strecthes of highway?
