“We call it minor maintenance and painting,” Peter Henne, administrator for Public Works Santa Clarita, said. “Basically (the restoration) is if any of the substructure needs painting.”

The first bridge to be restored as part of the “Paseo Bridge Maintenance and Painting Project” is Grandview Drive No. 3, which is above the loop that becomes Hillsborough Parkway, according to Henne.

Based on the needs of the maintenance from bridge to bridge, traffic in the vicinity of the individual projects could potentially be affected Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Corresponding signage is set to be posted near each bridge and the streets below them during the restoration process, Henne said. Signs are also expected to be posted to designate the next zone of construction.

As each bridge undergoes restoration, lane closures will be in effect and under traffic control during the aforementioned hours of maintenance, according to Henne.

Before and after those hours, streets are scheduled to be open to the public with no expected lane closures.

The project will focus on one bridge at a time in an effort to alleviate traffic congestion below the bridges, according to Henne, and each bridge will take approximately eight days to complete.

During each eight-day process of restoration, the corresponding bridge will also be closed to the public, according to officials.

The “Paseo Bridge Maintenance and Painting Project” is part of a five-year plan to assess and restore 34 Paseo bridges in Santa Clarita annually, according to Henne.

  1. How about finishing the bridge over Sierra Hwy and Golden Valley first. It’s been over 4 months with little work being done.
