The Santa Clarita Veteran Services Collaborative is moving from its shared space with the Los Angeles County Community Center on Bouquet Canyon.
The Board of Directors of the Santa Clarita Veteran Services Collaborative are making the change to a new location to provide evening and weekend access for veterans and their families, a news release said.
The permanent Veterans Center will be at 23222 Lyons Avenue in Newhall.
On the premises will be a “one-stop shopping” reference desk which will provide a multitude of services to the veteran population, including employment opportunities, counseling and therapy, education, transportation, legal and medical services, benefit assistance, and a host of additional choices, according to the news release.
Veterans are also welcome to visit the new location for a place to hold meetings and parties, to participate in support groups and recreational purposes including library services and games.
The Collaborative was able to share the space with the Los Angeles County Community Center on Bouquet Canyon — which they currently occupy — due to the collaborative aid of Kathryn Barger, the Los Angeles County’s 5th Supervisorial District Supervisor and Rosalind Wayman, the longtime senior field deputy for the Santa Clarita Valley under former county Supervisor Michael Antonovich, officials said.
The Collaborative will continue meeting at the College of The Canyons on the third Friday of every month at 11:30 a.m. in room 301 of the University Center.
New members are invited to join, participate, and provide help to a well deserved constituency.
“(About) 40+ entities (gather) to agree on principles that will lead to a greater ability to assist veterans and their families” according to the SCV-Vets website.
