Hart District Touts Student Athletes’ Academic Success

Hart district officials touted the academic success of several student athletes and teams Tuesday, officials said.

The winners of the annual CIF Southern Section-Ford Academic Awards program were announced at the CIF-SS office Monday, with several Hart district teams earning distinction.

In girl’s basketball, West Ranch placed fourth among the 51 schools entered in the 1,500 & Over enrollment category.

The Wildcats girls basketball team sported a 3.66 GPA for the season.

In boys cross country, West Ranch placed seventh in the 1,500 & Over category with a team GPA of 3.65.

In football, West Ranch placed fourth, and Hart fifth, with team GPAs of 3.19 and 3.18, respectively.

Canyon’s team GPA of 3.79 in girl’s tennis placed the Cowboys in fifth place.

West Ranch’s girl’s volleyball team placed fourth with a team GPA of 3.71. Hart is ninth with a 3.6.

The CIF-SS also announced the male and female winners of the Academic All-CIF athletes from member schools participating.

From Canyon High School, Kendall Bietsch and Steven Brotz were selected; Golden Valley’s Israel Macias and Samantha Wilson; and Saugus’s Brian Zabilski and Darby LaPlant.

The Hart district congratulates the academic success of these teams and individuals.
