The event is free for everyone and features a Thanksgiving meal, live entertainment, a clothing shop, crafts for kids and a bicycle raffle, according to a news release.

The clothing shop will begin serving its guests at 9 a.m.

Food will be served the following hour until 1 p.m.

“(In 2016) we started setting up at about 7 a.m., and there was already a large line of people,” Mark Botello, Heart of the Canyons Church coordinator for GTG, said. “Most people come for the clothing and supplies.”

Over 25 volunteers will be manning the clothing shop, which will begin at 9 a.m, event officials said.

“(Volunteers) have been sorting the clothes for about six weeks at Heart of the Canyons Church in Newhall,” Botello said.

The event will be including the raffling of 25 to 30 bikes, Botello said.

The Jaspers, former owners of the Newhall Bicycle Co., started the event in 2004 to help feed the needy in the Newhall area.

The event has grown and organizers have changed hands since its emergence due to its popularity, and Heart of the Canyons has been organizing the GTG event since 2014.

“It takes about $15,000 to put this event on,” Botello said. “There are a number of churches that have contributed financially.”
