The decision to add Grose to the team came after he presented his future vision for growing the organization’s efforts at a recent board meeting.

Michael Santormauro, director of Help The Children in Santa Clarita, commented about the decision behind naming Grose the new CEO.

“It was kind of an interesting story of how it happened,” said Santomauro. “The opportunity popped up as a result of a presentation he made at one of our board meetings.”

Grose astonished board members with his ideas for the future of Help The Children, resulting in many calling for Grose to be named CEO, according to Santormauro.

Grose served as a voluntary member of Help the Children’s Advisory Board for three years, in addition to his many years of dedication to the organization’s efforts.

With Help the Children’s 20th anniversary just around the corner, Grose worked with Roxana Presgrove, president of Help the Children, to conduct a “mini 360” look at the organization’s current programs and devised a plan for the next decade.

“I’ve worked closely with Roxana,” said Grose. “We’re looking at everything… Through this exercise we decided that we needed a fresh start for the next 20 years.”

Grose previously worked with the Walt Disney Company for 20 years, where he specialized in brand building, creative marketing and global business development, according to officials.

“We’re at an exciting place now,” added Groze. “2018 is what we’re calling a year of transition, so were going to be launching some new programs this year.”

The new CEO gave some information about ongoing and future projects that are currently serving, or expected to serve, the Santa Clarita community.

“In the Santa Clarita Valley, most people don’t realize this: there is a high level of economically-challenged high school students,” said Grose. “What we’re doing is partnering with some schools to create a food bank so there is food, clothing and personal hygiene, so that they can give items to students for free.”

Help the Children has also teamed up with Santa Clarita grocery stores to provide food to be donated at any one of the many programs facilitated by the nonprofit.

In addition, the Santa Clarita organization is turned into a miniature grocery store every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, where veterans, seniors and families are invited to attain food for the week.

Help the Children also maintains a program at Golden Valley High School called the Paws Center — a reference to the school’s Grizzly Bear mascot — where students are able to receive food, personal hygiene supplies and clothing.

In addition to these services in Santa Clarita, Help the Children has partnered with Jersey Mikes and Walmart to launch a homeless feeding program that is expected to start April 1, 2018.
