Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Announces Events For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has announced the events they plan to host this month in support of the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center, the hospital’s accredited breast imaging center.

In conjunction with annual monthly events practiced across the country to spread awareness about the disease, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has organized numerous charity events around Santa Clarita, with the proceeds each event being promised to the Imaging Center.

“Proceeds from these community events will help fund state-of-the-art equipment and ensure patients in our community have access to superior technology for breast cancer detection at the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center,” said a Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital news release.

The first of the events highlighted by Henry Mayo is Wolf Creek Brewery’s ‘Community Pints Partner’” night, which is planned to held on Tuesday nights throughout the month of October, according to event organizers.

From 4-9 p.m. on Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24, Wolf Creek Brewery has invited members of the community to enjoy live music, food trucks and Wolf Creek brews. 10 percent of sales are to be donated to the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center, along with $.50 from every Golden Eagle Ale sold at the restaurant, according to officials.

“Supporting the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center is a chance for Wolf Creek to give back to the community that has supported us for so long,” said Laina McFerren, Co-Founder of Wolf Creek Restaurant and Brewery.

The second event announced by Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital that supports Breast Cancer Awareness month is Advanced Dermatology’s “A Day of Creating Beauty at Advanced Dermatology” event held on Nov. 10.

Throughout that day the medical professional of Advanced Dermatology have planned to teach patients about procedures and treatments along with doing educational presentations, live demonstrations, skin care recommendations, shoulder massages all the while providing food and beverages, according to officials.

“Breast cancer is near and dear to our heart and affects so many people in our lives that we feel it is important to support our local Shelia R. Veloz Breast Center” says Charlene Rich, Aesthetic Consultant at Advanced Dermatology & Cosmetic Care. “All of us know many patients, co-workers, family and friends who are affected by breast cancer. We feel it is important to not only help the community, but to be diligent with our resources”.

A “generous portions” of the proceeds generated on Nov. 10 will be donated to the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center, according to the hospital’s news release.

The third and final event announced by Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in honor of Breast Cancer awareness month is The Carole Hunt Memorial “Bingo or Bust” that is to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

“Come enjoy a night of Bingo and celebrate 15 years of excellence during this special fundraiser benefiting the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center,” said Henry Mayo’s news release. “Seating is limited, and will sell out fast.”

Buy in is $35 pre-paid, $45 at the door and admission includes refreshments and two bingo cards, according to event organizers. Additional cards may be purchased at the event, and are $5 each or 3 for $10.

The Carole Hunt Memorial “Bingo or Bust” night is scheduled to take place October 18, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in rooms four through seven at the Henry Mayo Center located at 23803 Mcbean Parkway.
