Officers from multiple California Highway Patrol offices were involved in a high-speed pursuit that passed through the Santa Clarita Valley before ending peacefully in Bakersfield, according to CHP officials.

The driver was arrested on charges of evading arrest and failure to yield after his vehicle came to a rolling stop in Bakersfield around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night, according to CHP officials.

“His car became disabled and he just stopped in the middle of the road.” said Sergeant Soto of the Bakersfield CHP field office.

Officers from the local Newhall CHP field office joined the pursuit as it passed through the Santa Clarita Valley area on the I5 Freeway.

“Spike strips” were deployed in the Castaic area during the pursuit, but failed to stop the vehicle.
