Two hikers were airlifted out of Towsley Canyon after triple-digit temperatures dehydrated them over the course of a hike Sunday afternoon.

“(The hikers) called in at about 12:45 p.m.,” said Lt. Brenda Cambra with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “They were out of water and overheated.”
Due to the location of the incident, a search and rescue team was called to locate the missing hikers.
“We activated the search and rescue team,” said Cambra.

One male patient was confirmed to have been taken to a local hospital for further evaluation when the helicopter rendezvoused with emergency responders.
The temperature Sunday afternoon was at least 105 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
